Vi ska besöka en hundraettåring. Akvariets historia börjar 1923 på jubileumsutställningen. Där visades djur från Västerhavet och insjöar, det var det enda i världen som visade fiskar från nordliga hav. Det blev en publiksuccé och Sjöfartsmuseet köpte det efter utställningens slut. Sjöfartsmuseet har nyligen renoverats och Akvariet har fått nya stora tankar som kan vara värda ett besök. Samma dag öppnar utställningen Haenyeo – havets kvinnor. Den handlar om dykarkvinnorna haenyeo som lever på ön Jeju utanför Sydkorea. De är kända för att ha utvecklat en speciell andningsteknik för att klara av att vara under vatten länge. Vi fikar tillsammans.

We are going to visit a hundred and one year old. The aquarium's history begins in 1923 at the anniversary exhibition. Animals from the North Sea and lakes were shown there, it was the only place in the world that showed fish from northern seas. It was a hit with the public and the Maritime Museum bought it after the exhibition ended. The Maritime Museum has recently been renovated and the Aquarium has received new large tanks that may be worth a visit. On the same day, the exhibition Haenyeo – women of the sea opens. We’ll have a fika together.
